The completely redesigned 16A offers everything you need to transform your computer into a powerful 24-bit/192 kHz digital audio workstation. The 16A connects to a Mac, PC, or iOS device via the included 40 Gbps USB-C cable (compatible with Thunderbolt 3/4, USB4, USB3, and USB2) and provides up to 256 audio channels (128 inputs and 128 outputs), depending on the host computer connection. Class-compliant compatibility and proven MOTU drivers allow it to work with all your favorite audio software, delivering industry-leading, ultra-low round-trip latency (RTL) of less than 2 ms at 96 kHz with powerful DAW hosts. USB Class-compliant firmware allows connection to an iPad™ or any iOS™ device via USB-C or a standard camera connection kit (Lightning adapter sold separately). The 16A is equally suitable for studio and stage use. As an interface or standalone mixer, it offers 32 separate inputs and 34 separate outputs, including 16 balanced analog 1/4-inch line-level inputs/outputs, two banks of 8-channel optical inputs/outputs, and a front-panel headphone output. Renowned ESS Sabre32™ DAC technology delivers outstanding analog performance. The 16A features a built-in AVB switch with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, allowing multiple 16A units to be connected using standard network cables. Alternatively, the network can be expanded by connecting an external AVB switch to create a network with multiple interfaces and computers, providing extremely low network latency, even over long cable runs (hundreds of meters).

DDS also allows the Audio Express to maintain an extremely stable clock while resolved to incoming clock sources that have substantially more jitter than the Audio Express itself.SMPTE Console software SMPTE Console software The included MOTU SMPTE Console™ software (for Mac OS X and Windows) provides a complete set of tools to generate SMPTE for striping, regenerating or slaving other devices to the computer. Like CueMix FX, the synchronization features are cross-platform and compatible with all audio sequencer software that supports the ASIO2 sample-accurate sync protocol. Add another Audio Express (or other MOTU audio interface) as your needs grow via a standard Firewire or USB 2.0 hub.
