The B-DYN faithfully recreates the iconic dynamics section of the original SL 4000 B console, renowned for its distinct sonic character and musical response. Unlike later SSL channel dynamics designs, the original 4000 B used the fader VCA as its gain element rather than a dedicated VCA, following a topology similar to the legendary SSL Bus Compressor. The B-DYN inherits this unique feedback design, delivering compression with rich tonal color, punch, and a musical, program-dependent response. Its “Auto” release setting mirrors the behavior of the original Bus Compressor, offering smooth, adaptive dynamics control that has defined classic SSL sound for decades.
