Locomotive Audio MODEL 14B MONO COMPRESSOR
Locomotive Audio's single channel 14B compressor and limiter is based on a very old, but still very exciting concept of rebiasing the input tube with a sidechain control voltage. After all, some of the most famous compressors in history, such as the Fairchild 670, Gates Sta-Level and Collins 26U, employed this very technique. The results are a sound that cannot be replicated with other ways of gain reduction. The Locomotive Audio 14B and its added modern features allow it to achieve a unique sound in its own right. Starting with the semi-remote cutoff 6BC8 tube, a 12AY7 then drives two powerful push-pull 6V6 output tubes. The 14B is quite a versatile unit, with the ability to run soft and gentle or hard and aggressive. A sidechain low cut control offers even more flexibility, especially when used on the mixbus and linked with another 14B. This versatile unit can be used on all kinds of source material including vocals, drums, guitars, bass, piano and horns. With its high quality Cinemag input and interstage transformers, the 14B has the ability to define mid-range clutter and control the peaks at the same time. Any material run through this unit will be enhanced, even when not compressing. TK Audio M/S Station
The M/S Station is a new mastering and main bus tool with four separate functions divided into two sections including an advanced cue function. Section 1 is a parallel insert with M/S function allowing the user to use separate blend controls for the mid and side signals. For maximum precision the blend control(s) has 16 positions from dry to wet.Section 2 consists of three parts, an elliptical EQ with 16 frequencies, a width control from 0-200% and an advanced cue function.The two sections are normally linked internally but can be used separately with their own balanced inputs and outputs by removing four jumpers inside the unit (see unlink section 1 and 2). This way you can use them at different locations in your setup. Section 1Parallel insert with M/S function: With the insert section you can insert an external processor like an EQ, compressor, distortion unit etc, and then dial in a mix between the processed signal (wet) and the unprocessed signal (dry). For maximum precision the blend control has 16 steps from dry to wet. If you activate the M/S function your signal will be coded into mid ( L+R ) and side ( L-R ). The mid signal normally contains all the center info such as bass, kick drum, lead vocal etc and the side signal contains all the panned parts of the signal. In M/S you can process the center signal and side signal separately with different types of processors. With the blend split function you get separate blend controls for the mid and side signal. In M/S mode the blend function takes place before the signal is decoded back to left/right. With the insert cue function you can monitor the L or R signal after the blend control separately, mid or side if M/S is active. Section 2Elliptical Equalizer: With the elliptical EQ all frequencies below a selected frequency will be made to mono. This function can make your low end more focused. It’s an old technique used when mastering for vinyl. Too much low end in the side channel (vertical) can make the needle bounce slightly and cause distortion. By using a 12dB high pass filter in the side channel you set the frequency under which the signal will be processed as mono. As a HPF introduces phase shift to the signal, a phase correction is added to the mid channel keeping channel separation as good as possible. The EEQ has 16 frequencies from 36Hz to 302Hz. With the EEQ cue function you can monitor the signals that are mixed between the channels. Stereo width control: By adjusting the amount of side information in the stereo mix, the width can be adjusted incrementally from mono to extra wide. With this control you can fine adjust the stereo image after you have used the M/S insert and EEQ.Cue function: With the cue function you can monitor the left, right, mid or side signal separately. By pressing the cue sections Insert switch you can cue the parallel inserts return signal by pressing L or R. (this can be done even if you run the two sections separately at different locations in your chain) If you select the EEQ switch on the cue section you can monitor the low frequencies fed from left to right or right to left. The cue section is a passive design using relays to select the cue source.Unlink section 1 and 2: If you like to use the two sections at different locations in your chain you can unlink them by removing the four jumpers inside the unit (see picture in the manual). You can then use them separately with their own balanced inputs and outputs. The two sections are linked as default.

TK Audio Transformer
The Transformer is a recording and mixing tool that transform your sound by using several different harmonic stages. The unit is divided into two sections, a harmonic generating section and a transformer coupled class-A stage with a punchy, vintage tone. If you’re working mostly in the box this is the perfect tool to add some analog warmth, punch and color to your sound/mix. The first section contains three different harmonic stages; a transformer saturation stage, a passive saturation/clipping stage and an active germanium circuit. These three stages does not only generate different kinds of harmonics, they also shape the tone curve in different ways. With a blend function you can blend in the desired amount of harmonics. You can also choose to process the mid and side channels separately by activating the M/S function. The second section is a selectable vintage transformer coupled class-A stage.

PREAMPLIFIER: The VT-737SP has three input selections: 1. The VT-737SP features a higher-performance microphone input transformer with +48v phantom selection. 2. Instrument DI high source input with jack located on front panel. 3. Balanced line input, discrete high-level Class A. The Class A preamplifier utilizes two cascaded, dual vacuum tube triodes configured with minimum negative feedback. A high gain switch boosts the overall gain of the preamplifier. The four high quality tubes are configured as singled ended anode coupled followers. A passive-variable high pass filter and hard-wire relay bypass completes the input signal conditioning. The phase reverse relay is available on all three inputs. OPTO-COMPRESSOR: The opto-compressor features a minimum signal path design with twin Class A vacuum tube triodes for gain matching. The optical attenuator acts as a simple passive level controller. Full dynamic control from soft compression to hard- knee limiting can be achieved with threshold, ratio-compression, attack and release controls plus gain reduction selection on the large VU meter. Special spectral control including de-ess is available with the dual sweep mid EQ to side-chain switch. The EQ section can be flipped pre or post the opto-compressor via a front panel switch for alternate effects and tone shaping. Two VT-737SPs can be linked via a rear panel link cable for stereo tracking. The compressor bypass is a sealed silver relay for the most direct signal path. SWEEP-EQUALIZER AND OUTPUT LEVEL: The VT-737SP equalizer utilizes 100% discrete, Class A-high-voltage transistors for optimum sonic performance. The high and low frequency bands provide the smooth characteristics of an all passive design, while the dual mid bands include variable frequency and switched Q-width selection. The enhanced range of the mid bands is extended into the high and low bands by the use of X10 frequency multipliers. The bypass switch incorporates a sealed silver relay for the most direct signal path. When the EQ to sidechain is engaged, the high-low EQ remains in the audio path for 'tone enhancement'. The output level control provides a variable control of the overall signal path. Das BN251 ist das mechanische Teil-für-Teil-Zwilling des „originalen“ Telefunken (von AKG gefertigten) ELA M251 Mikrofons. Das originale Telefunken ELA M251 wurde in den 1950er Jahren von dem österreichischen Mikrofonhersteller AKG entwickelt und erlangte in den 1960er Jahren große Bekanntheit. Es entstand durch die Zusammenarbeit von AKG, die für die Fertigung verantwortlich waren, und Telefunken, die Branding und Marketing übernahmen. Dieses originale ELA M251 hat keinerlei direkte Verbindung zu der aktuell in den USA produzierten Version gleichen Namens. Dieses amerikanische ELA M251 ist selbst nur ein Namensvetter und eine Nachbildung des Originals. In den letzten 20 Jahren hat das ELA M251 ein großes Comeback unter Toningenieuren und Produzenten erlebt. Es ist bekannt für seinen glatten, runden und dennoch luftigen Klang. Wicklungen und Laminierungen sind versiegelt, um akustische Resonanzen zu verhindern. Die Kapsel ist die BeesNeez M7, handgefertigt in unserer australischen Fabrik aus dem Originalmaterial, das Neumann vor über 65 Jahren nutzte. Die M7-Kapsel, bekannt aus Mikrofonen wie Neumann M49, U47 und Gefell CMV563, überzeugt durch realistische Quelltreue, mathematische Präzision und verführerische Obertöne. Das Telefunken* ELA M251 gilt als eines der besten Mikrofone aller Zeiten. Ursprünglich von AKG* für Telefunken hergestellt, teilt das ELA M251 viele Eigenschaften mit dem AKG C12, jedoch erlauben subtile Unterschiede, dass es seinen eigenen Charakter entwickelt. Kleine elektrische Unterschiede führen zu großen klanglichen Unterschieden, und obwohl 251 und C12 ähnlich sind, klingen sie sehr unterschiedlich. BeesNeez entwickelte das Tribute 2, um der Nachfrage der Kunden nach einem Mikrofon mit dem Klang des 251 gerecht zu werden. Schaltungsdesign Das Tribute 2 verfügt über die BeesNeez CK12-Kapsel, eine mehrkammerige Kapsel und eine der kompliziertesten verfügbaren. Jede CK12-Kapsel wird vollständig hergestellt, von Hand geschliffen und von Ben Sneesby persönlich mit Membran versehen, um unvergleichliche Genauigkeit zu gewährleisten. Der Unterschied liegt im Gehäuse: Die Studio Series Elly besitzt ein einteiliges massives Messinggehäuse mit integriertem Korb, wodurch Kosten eingespart werden, die wir direkt an Sie weitergeben. Schaltungsdesign Der Elly verwendet unseren eigenen E-Core Single-Spool Transformator. Dieses Design bietet geringe Leckage und eine kompakte Baugröße. Unsere Tests haben gezeigt, dass E-Core Transformatoren wie dieser eine deutlich geringere Anfälligkeit für Magnetisierung des Kerns aufweisen. Wenn ein Transformator magnetisiert wird, verringert sich die Permeabilität der Laminationen, was die Leistung stark beeinträchtigt. Verarbeitungsqualität Das Gehäuse des Elly besteht aus einem einzigen Stück kaltgeformtem Messingrohr der Güteklasse 380. BeesNeez B87i – Unsere Hommage an die legendäre U87i: Die U87i gilt als die begehrteste und höchstbewertete Version der U87. Mit dem B87i war es unsere aufrichtige Mission, diesem Originalklassiker gerecht zu werden und seinen zeitlosen Charakter originalgetreu nachzubilden. Schaltungsdesign: Bei BeesNeez sind wir das einzige Mikrofonunternehmen, das Kapsel, Schaltung und Transformator für ein von der U87i inspiriertes Mikrofon komplett im eigenen Haus herstellt. Andere Hersteller sind auf zugekaufte Teile angewiesen, was ihre Kontrolle über den Klang einschränkt. Für uns war das nie akzeptabel – wir sind überzeugt, dass die wichtigsten Komponenten eines großartigen Mikrofons von Hand gefertigt und perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt sein müssen. Die BeesNeez B87i-Kapsel ist exakt auf unsere Schaltung und den Transformator abgestimmt. Wir verwenden einen streifen-gewickelten Mu-Toroid-Transformator, der durch seine hohe Permeabilität tiefe Frequenzen mühelos wiedergibt und seidige, luftige Höhen ermöglicht, die niemals scharf klingen. Das originale U87 verwendete einen UI-Mu-Kern-Transformator mit einem Übersetzungsverhältnis von 9,5:1. Im Gegensatz dazu nutzen die meisten heutigen Klone 13:1- oder 14:1-Transformatoren, die den Ausgangspegel verringern und die Höhen überbetonen. Unser Design bleibt der klanglichen Balance des ursprünglichen U87i treu. Klangeigenschaften: Was machte die frühe U87i so beliebt? Es war ihr musikalischer Klang – wärmer, voller und weniger steril als bei der modernen U87ai. Genau diese Qualität unterschied sie und machte sie zur Legende. Mit dem B87i haben wir unermüdlich daran gearbeitet, diese Musikalität einzufangen und den Klang authentisch im Geiste des Originals zu bewahren. Verarbeitungsqualität: Um die Integrität des Signalwegs zu erhalten, haben wir das B87i als reines Nierenmikrofon entwickelt und die Schaltung so kurz und sauber wie möglich gehalten. The summing buss is a 30-channel mixer utilizing copper buss bars and esoteric resistors, for simply the finest sounding passive monitor section ever made. Shadow Hills Industries Mastering Compressor
The Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor has extraordinary functionality, and also provides mastering grade compression and limiting for tracking and mixing. Essentially it is two compressors in series, per channel, that can act in stereo, or dual mono. First comes our mastering grade electro optical compressor, followed by our discrete Class-A compressor/limiter. Both feed our switchable custom output transformers, Nickel, Iron, and Steel. There is enough gain in each section to overdrive the hottest tape, or clip your converters, if you're into that sort of thing. The input stage is transformer balanced, followed by our fully discrete optical compressor. This section utilizes the same T4B optical attenuator as the LA2A and LA3A, but is optimized for mastering. The second stage is our discrete Class-A VCA compressor. There are no electrolytic caps or IC chips in the audio path. There are six ratios: 1.2 to 1, 2 to 1, 3 to 1, 4 to 1, 6 to 1, and 10 to 1. There is six attack settings: .1, .5, 1, 5, 10, and 30 milliseconds. And there are six release times selectable: .1, .25, .5,8, 1.2, and Auto. There is an insertable filter in the side chain to limit pumping with bass heavy material. Lastly the signal goes through our new Shadow Hills custom transformer-switching network. The first position is Nickel, which is our custom version of a famous L. A. custom console. Next is Iron. In this mode the signal goes through our op-amp and into a Class-A output stage then to our custom Iron transformers, the last transformer position is Steel. Shadow Hills Industries MonoGAMA Mic Pre
The Mono is the single channel API 500 series version of the GAMA (Golden Age Microphone Amp), with all the capabilities, features, and quality of the original. The Shadow Hills Mono Gama is centered around our custom discrete op-amp. This no-compromise design exudes hugeness, fidelity, punchyness and depth, across the full frequency range, without becoming veiled or choked, the way non-discrete varieties can. The preamplifier input is transformer balanced and utilizes an original Jensen input transformer. We couldn't decide which vintage output transformer we liked best, so we had our favorites perfectly recreated, and included them all. You can change the output transformer by cranking the knob, thus changing the tonal capabilities to compliment to whatever material you are recording. This allows you to audition different settings to find the perfect match for microphone or direct input without patching and un-patching other preamps, and possibly alleviating the need for EQ. Choose between Nickel, Discrete, or Steel settings. Each transformer position is stellar unto itself, but the capability of switching between them is like having three great pre's in one. All the standard Mic-pre features are present: phantom power, phase reverse, a twenty dB pad, and direct input. We have also included the ability to pad and reverse the phase of the Direct Input.
